Mermaid Hair and Mermaid Style

Alright Mermaids! It's that time of year,  summer is here and for most you I hope that means lots of time on the beach and near the water. I'm sure by now most of you are sick of wearing that boring ponytail or messy bun everyday so I'm here to give you a few ideas and tips for some trendy, cute ways to keep your hair up and away.

The Fishtail.  This style is a fresh take on rocking a braid. It can be worn any way but my top two choices are to the side or two pigtails.  Unlike a braid you need to start with your hair in two sections.  Then. Take a small outside sliver of hair from the right and cross it over to the left. You should still just be holding two sections. Now take a small outside sliver of hair from the left side and cross it over to the right. Continue this until you reach the desired length. After the fishtail is complete starting at the bottom and continuing upwards, pull outside strands in order to make it appear extra thick! There you have it signature mermaid hair complete with a tail!

Braided Top Knot. Just like the fishtail this style can be worn several ways. My personal favorite is just using a Mohawk section straight down the top of the head. Make your section and then clip off hair you don't intend to braid. Begin at the very front with three small strands and begin braiding (crossing the outer strands under will make the braid look more like a corn row as opposed to crossing strands over which will cause it to be more inverted). You will be French braiding so pick up small piece of hair to add to your outside strands as you make your way to the back of the head. Once you have reached the crown wrap it with your hair tie into a bun and begin placing bobby pins in several place and directions to get that messy top knot! If desired you could add all your hair to the top knot allowing your hair to be completely up or even do two braided sections on top with two messy top knots for a more funky look.
